It was a good game despite the difference in the scoring, and a crowd of about 1000 spectators were on hand to create a festive atmosphere. The Serbs dominated the French players for the entire first half of the match. In the second half the tables turned and the French redeemed themselves for the third quarter, during which they outscored their opponents 3-1. But this lead was only provisional, and Serbia returned stronger than ever in the final period. The fourth quarter score was 1-5 for the powerful Serbian team, and they won the game on a high note.

Best scorers in the game were Frédéric Audon (FRA) with two goals for the home side, while for Serbia Andrija Prlainovic and Stefan Mitrovic had three goals each.

The next games of the World League (Round 5) amongst the European teams will be held on May 5, 2009 with the following match-ups: France vs. Greece (Marseille), Romania vs. Montenegro (Oradea), Germany vs. Croatia (Berlin), and then on May 8, 2009 with Russia vs. Spain (St. Ptersburg).

Preliminary play continues in Europe until mid-May. Four teams from Europe will advance to the Super Final, which will be held in Podgorica (MNE) from June 16-21. The host team of Montenegro automatically advances from Group 2.
