Ledecky (18 medals) and Sarah Sjöström (SWE, 17) can surpass Natalie Coughlin (USA, 19) as most decorated women at the world aquatics championships.

Katinka Hosszú could become the first athlete to win six world titles in a specific event: in the women's 400m individual medley.

USA (96) are four gold medals short of claiming their 100th gold medal in women's swimming events at the world aquatics championships.

China (86 medals) can overtake the former German Democratic Republic (91) in third place in the all-time medal table in women's events at the world aquatics championships. China won its first medal in 1991, one year after the GDR had ceased to exist.
