FINA topped the charts on the Facebook top 10, moving up one place from last year's performance to earn top honours. FINA also achieved the second-highest growth rate among Summer and Winter Olympic IFs with 145 percent, accounting for 643,000 new followers. The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 accounted for 41% of this total growth.

Following high levels of engagement across its digital platforms, offering creative insights into the global aquatics community, FINA also moved up five places to 10th in the overall #SportonSocial League Table 2022.

"Holding a solid presence on Facebook today is a good starting point for the future digital transformation of FINA," said FINA's Digital Manager, Luca Fasani, in the report. "We also want to collaborate more and better with our athletes. They are at the heart of our content production. We also look forward to greater engagement with our National Federations in the near future."

FINA’s increased collaboration and focus on the sport’s global stars in digital campaigns has played a major role in its online growth. These latest results are more evidence of the benefits of FINA’s emphasis on delivering engaging fan content, and follow the significant boost in its digital approach as highlighted in the recent 2021 BCW International Sports Federations Social Media Ranking.
