We’re just under one week to go to the FINA Aquatics Festival in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Running in parallel with the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2021 from 16-21 December, the first of its kind festival will bring together the FINA disciplines of diving, high diving, and open water swimming alongside the ‘short course’ world champs.
The FINA Aquatics Festival will give all FINA disciplines an equal platform, in a true aquatics celebration right in the heart of Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. Spectators will be treated to a FINA High Diving Qualifier, FINA Diving Team Exhibition, FINA / CNSG Marathon Swim World Series and an innovative Open Water Swim Mixed Relay.
The FINA High Diving Qualifier will serve as the final qualifying event for the 19th FINA World Championships 2022 in Fukuoka (JPN).
Meanwhile, the FINA Diving Team Exhibition will feature a Mixed Team event, with athletes alternating dives from 3m springboard and 10m platform.
The final leg of the annual circuit of the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series will see athletes complete a 10km race, while an innovative Open Water Mixed Relay event will be staged for the first time ever. The Open Water Mixed Relay will see each team’s four competitors (two male and two female) challenged with completing a 1500m swim for a total of 6km.
It’s not only the athletes that will come together through a meeting of various aquatics disciplines, as the interactive Market Street will provide family and fan-friendly entertainment and cultural learning experiences for the entire aquatics family.
