Congratulations to all our fantastic artistic swimmers. Once again, they proved the value they bring to the Olympic Games through their exceptional ability to combine athleticism and artistry.

We know that the road to Tokyo 2020 was long and full of unexpected challenges. The difficulties in accessing pools, spending time with coaches, partners and teammates were in many cases extreme. But you overcame those challenges, to create some of the most stunning routines I have ever seen. The progression of artistic swimming really is remarkable.

Here at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, for session after session, your performances were even more impactful as they symbolised the resilience and determination of the Aquatics family.

I was grateful to have the opportunity to meet so many of you here in Tokyo. I very much look forward to working with you over the coming days, months and years to take artistic swimming forward.

In the meantime, as the Olympic Games conclude, I am sure you will join us in congratulating our athletes in Diving, Swimming, Marathon Swimming and Water Polo. Together you, the Aquatics athletes, have shown why you so deserved for their to be more medal opportunities in our sport at Tokyo 2020 than for any other.

Have a safe trip home and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
