In accordance with the FINA Constitution, the FINA General Congress 2021will be held in Doha (QAT) on Saturday June 5, 2021.This new date has been proposed resulting in the postponement of the FINA World Championships 2021 to 2022, in Fukuoka (JPN).

119 National Federations, represented by 189 delegates will physically be attending the Congress in Doha, respecting a robust and safe COVID-19 protocol, while another 102 National Federations (202 delegates) will be following the programme via a live stream and cast their vote through a highly secured online system. Some NFs will be represented both on-site and online. 

Firstly on the agenda of the Congress will be the report of the FINA Bureau on its activities during the time since the previous General Congress (2019) presented by the FINA President. Then will follow the Financial report of the FINA Honorary Treasurer and the reports of the FINA Audit Committee and FINA External Auditor.    

The approval of the budget and the motions, applications and proposals for alteration of or addition to the FINA Rules will be discussed ahead of the elections, which will take place as follows:    

1.Election of:

  • FINA President
  • FINA Bureau Members 
  • Five FINA Vice-Presidents
  • First Vice President & Second Vice President
  • FINA Treasurer
  • Honorary positions (if applicable) 

2. Election of FINA Ethics Panel 

3.Election of FINA Audit Committee Members    

Individuals elected at the occasion of the 2021 FINA General Congress will take office immediately after their election, i.e. on 5 June 2021.
