The third game was a match between the Americas and Africa – Peru versus Tunisia. Peru took a 2-1 first period lead and never looked back as they handily took a 10-2 victory home with them led by three goals apiece from each of Diaz and Guerr. The result left Tunisia with sole possession of the basement in Group A.

Guatemala, a big underdog, took on Uzbekistan, the Group B leader in the next game. There was no upset to be had as a single solitary goal in the first period for the Guatemalans was all they could score as the Uzbek defence and 24 goals from 10 different players led to an easy 24-1 win for the Asian team from Uzbekistan.

The day’s final game saw the host Kuwaitis take on the South Africans. On paper, Kuwait was expected to be an easy victor but things certainly never played out that way. The team from South Africa took the lead after the Kuwait team scored the first goal, giving back the lead to Kuwait just before the half time break before a group of boisterous Kuwait supporters. South Africa took the lead 10-9 in the third period before Kuwait ended with a flourish to lead 11-10 going into the final period. They extended their lead to 12-10 and then hung on for a 13-12 victory and maintained 2nd place in the group.

The marquee match for Thursday will be between Kuwait and Uzbekistan with the winner taking possession of first place in Group B.
