The second leg of the newest synchronised swimming event on the FINA Aquatic calendar, the FINA Synchronised Swimming World Series 2017, kicked-off today, Saturday April 22, in Taiyuan, China.

10 events are on the programme of the three-day competition, however only the Duet Free / Duet Technical routines and the Mixed Duet Free routine finals were held on Day 1.

Team China claimed three home wins by scoring an excellent 73.3667 points in the mixed event, with Sheng Shuwen / Shi Haoyu (only team registered for this event), 91.8000 points in the Duet Free (Li Xiaolu / Sun Wenyan), while the latter pair secured 89.7401 points in the Duet Technical.

USA’s Anita Alvarez and Victoria Woroniecki took silver in both Duet events, respectively 79.9667 points in the free and 76.2146 in the technical.

Malaysia was the last team on the podium in Taiyuan with a silver in both the Duet events.

The preliminary round of the Team Free routine was also dominated by the Chinese, followed by Malaysia.

This second meet of the Synchronised Swimming World Series is currently taking place as part of the Chinese National Open and will run until Monday April 24. Claiming a home win over the Russians.
