Around 330 young talents from 35 countries are ready to shine in the first edition of the FINA World Youth Artistic Swimming Championships, to be held in Samorin (SVK) from August 28 to September 1, 2019. The competition is open to athletes aged 13-15, born between 2004 and 2006.

Over the five-day championship, contested by the future stars of the discipline, the programme includes the “classical” events of the disciplines, namely Solo, Duet, Team and Free Combination. The relatively recent Mixed Duet competition (entered in the elite FINA programme in 2015) is also included in the Slovakian rendezvous. Finally, the Figure Session competition, important for the development of swimmers in this age group, will be contested on Friday, August 30.

The 1st FINA World Youth Artistic Swimming Championships will conclude next Sunday with the Duet and Team final, but also with a spectacular Gala, while the Opening Ceremony takes place this Tuesday, August 27.

The town of Samorin, hosting the inaugural edition of these Championships, is located in the south of Slovakia on Zitny island, the largest river island in Europe also known as an important reservoir of drinking water. Participants will perform in the 50m open swimming pool of the majestic X-Bionic Sphere Sport Complex of the Slovak Olympic Training Centre, built in 2014.
