Two weeks after the conclusion of the 18th FINA World Championships in Gwangju, Korea, swimmers continue to impress at the FINA Swimming World Cup which second stops of the 2019 circuit concluded tonight in Jinan, China.

Six new and one equalled World Cup records (WC) were set in the Chinese city between Thursday August 8 and Saturday August. 10.

Vladimir Morozov of Russia and Danas Rapsys of Lithuania both smashed two WC records each in the 100m free (47.99 WC) and 50m back (24.43 WC) for the Russian and in the 200m free (1:45.07 WC)and 400m free (3:43.91 WC) for Rapsys. In addition, Morozov added the 50m free title to his prolific tally. He touched home first in 21.50.

Australia's Mitch Larkin was in top form this weekend as he topped the 100m/200m back (in 53.79 and 1:56.39 respectively) as well as the 200m IM (1:57.26). Teammates Grant Irvine (1:55.94) and Thomas Fraser-Holmes (4:20.50) claimed the 200m fly and 400m IM golds.

China collected three gold medals in the men's competition in Jinan: Ji Xinjie was the fastest in the 1500m free in 15:16.15 and Yan Zibei secured the 100m / 200m breast golds up for grabs.

In the butterfly events, Szebasztian Szabo took gold in the 50m and 100m in respectively 22.93 and 51.45 and Andrew Wilson of the USA was another winner in Jinan as he won the 200m breast (2:08.24).

In the women's competition, Hungary's Katinka Hosszu geared up and won fourth titles: the 100m back (59.65), the 200m fly (2:07.26), the 200m IM (2:09.41) and the 400m IM (4:36.99).

Cate Campbell smashed the WC record in the 100m free in 52.34 but also claimed the 50m free (24.16) and 50m fly (25.63) top honours.

China's Liu Xiang also broke a WC record in the 50m back in 27.35 as teammates Hou Yawen (1:58.98) and Zhang Yufei (57.41) respectively pocketed the gold medal on offer in the 200m free and 100m fly.

USA's Erica Sullivan and Jamaica's Alia Atkinson were both double winners in Jinan. Sullivan won the 400 and 800m free in 4:08.70 and 8:26.13, while Atkinson maintained her dominance in the 500m and 100m breast clocking times of 30.92 and 1:07.06.

Emily Seebohm (AUS) and Vitalina Simonova (RUS) also stepped on the first step of the podium with wins in the 200m back and 200m breast respectively.

Finally, the two mixed relay were won by Australia and China as the latter team set a new WC record in the medley event in 3:43.79.
 
The Swimming World Cup resumes on August 15-17 in Singapore.
