Rommel Pacheco is also only testing his level: "We have just come from a camp in China which was very productive, my coach Ma Jin wants to start slowly. Qatar will be our first appearance and I will only compete in the 10m platform".

According to the organisers, 60 divers representing 10 countries will take part in the two–day event.

Mexico ready to host final World Series leg

Fernando Platas, Olympic medallist in Sydney 2000 and member of the FINA Athletes Commission, announced that Mexico is ready to host the fourth and final stage of the FINA Diving World Series 2009 on April 25 and 26.

Platas confirmed the meet will be attended by the best divers in the world, many of whom will appear at several of the four World Series 2009 host cities: Qatar, China, England and Mexico.

An event of high quality and competitive level is expected at the Olympic Pool Francisco Marquez, which also hosted the Olympic Games in Mexico of 1968, the Diving World Cup 1997, several Grand Prix Super Finals, a World Series stop, and in 2009, has been re-modelled for this international event.

The Mexican team for this competition will consist of: Paola Espinosa, Rommel Pacheco, Yahel Castillo and Laura Sanchez, as part of their preparation towards the FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy this July.

The announcement of the progress of the World Series organisation was also attended by authorities of the Mexican Federation of Swimming, the National Sports Commission and the delegation of Benito Juarez, which supports this event in Mexico.
