FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu and Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban have formally met this morning (February 8) in Budapest (HUN) at the Carmelite Monastery, alongside the Prime Minister’s Press Chief, Bertalan Havasi.

High on the meeting’s agenda were the upcoming FINA events to be hosted in the Magyar capital and more particularly the second leg of the brand new elite swimming circuit – the FINA Champions Swim Series – to be hosted from May 11-12 and the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships from August 20-25, 2019.

Both top-notch competitions will be staged in the state-of-the-art Duna Arena, a sporting facility built on the occasion of the 17th FINA World Championships, successfully hosted from July 14-30, 2017.

The meeting was also attended by Government Commissioner for Major Budapest Development Projects and International Sports Tenders Balazs Furjes.

“The parties gladly determined that Budapest has become one of the international centres for aquatic sports.”, Mr. Havasi said to MTI news agency.
