On 26th November 2018, the swimmer Omar Ahmed Essa (EGY) was tested positive in competition to the prohibited substances Dromostanolone (Class S1.1.a Anabolic Androgenic Steroids) and THC (Class S8 Cannabinoids).

The Disciplinary Committe of the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organisation imposed a sanction of four (4) years’ ineligibility period on the athlete starting on 20th February 2019 and ending on 19th February 2023, for his first anti-doping rule violation.
