As well as extensive planning meetings with the Local Organising Committee, the FINA delegation toured the host venue, the state-of-the-art Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), set in Albert Park.

The 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2022 will be held between 13-18 December and will be the first time that Melbourne has hosted the prestigious short course event. The city will welcome more than 1,000 athletes from around 170 countries for six days of action-packed racing.

FINA Executive Director Brent Nowicki said, “Following the coordination meetings this week, we are very happy with the preparations in Melbourne. With just under five weeks to go, the excitement is really building.”

He continued, “The MSAC is a superb venue that we know the athletes will love, combined with an electric atmosphere generated by thousands of passionate aquatics fans. Australia is a nation with a deep love of swimming and it is great we are heading there for our final event of 2022.
