With more than 4,000 years of history, athletes and fans will also have the opportunity to learn more about Peru’s history, including the Inca era, and popular Peruvian culture. Lima, the gastronomic capital of Latin America, will offer visitors an extraordinary range of emotions, sensations, colours and flavours. Outside of the pool, athletes can visit the city’s impressive cathedral, fly over the ocean, enjoy a photogenic sunset, or savour unmatched cuisine.

As the only capital in South America that faces the sea, and having hosted the 3rd FINA World Junior Swimming Championships 2011, swimming plays a huge role in the local culture. With six days of action-packed competition, the 8th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships will encourage thousands of young people to take to the water, leaving a lasting, positive impact in the region.
