Montenegro levels match in third period, survives goal-less fourth period and is flawless in 14-13 shootout

Hungary wears out Italy with stunning second-half effort for 12-9 victory

rammed in five goals as Hungary withstood the heavy-fouling Italy 7-7 at halftime (6-4 to Italy at one stage) to win the last two periods 3-1 and 2-1 and score four penalty goals into the bargain.

Superior Serbia rolls over Turkey, turning a 6-2 halftime lead into a 13-5 romp

pillaged seven goals in a personal vendetta against Turkey, while Luka Gladovic nailed three more as Serbia asserted its presence and determination to finish atop the dais.

Greece rebounds with final-quarter tsunami to beat Croatia 14-12
Iosif Kokkinos
scored two of his four goals in the final quarter as Greece came from 10-9 down at the last break to level at 12-12 midway through the final period and swim away with the match.

Gold 1-8 Quarter-finals:

The battle for the Gold Group honours between the teams ranked 9-16, three matches were close — Brazil heading Australia 10-9 with the winner 28 seconds from time; United States of America downing Germany 9-8 after the Europeans closed the gap with a minute to spare and Malta shutting Egypt out of the final quarter with a come-from-behind 3-0 burst for an 8-6 scoreline. Japan easily defeated Slovenia 13-3 in the other quarter-final.
