Women's 3m Springboard Synchro

China

China won 10 of the 11 available gold medals in the women's 3m springboard synchro at the world aquatics championships. The exception was Russia's win in 1998, the first edition of this event.

At the 1998 FINA Championships, Rao Lang (CHN) and Li Rongjuan (CHN) took silver in this event behind Russia's Yulia Pakhalina/Irina Laschko.

Wu Minxia (CHN, 7), Guo Jingjing (CHN, 5) and Shi Tingmao (CHN, 4) attributed to a majority of those 10 gold medals, but have all retired from the sport.

China also won the last five Olympic titles in the women's 3m springboard synchro. Shi Tingmao and Wang Han emerged victorious at Tokyo 2020.

Canada

Canada claimed a medal in this event at each of the last five world aquatics championships (G0-S4-B1). Recently retired Jennifer Abel (CAN) was part of all five of those medal-winning pairs.

Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu (CAN, silver in 2017 and 2019) and Pamela Ware (CAN, bronze in 2013 and silver in 2015) both claimed two medals in this event at the FINA World Championships.

The three non-Chinese divers to have collected more than two world championships medals in the women's 3m springboard synchro are Abel (5), Yulia Pakhalina (RUS, 4) and Ditte Kotzian (GER, 3).

Abel and Citrini-Beaulieu won silver in this event at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Other contenders

Lena Hentschel (GER) and Tina Punzel (GER) took bronze in this event at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. They could claim Germany's fourth medal in this event at the world aquatics championships, after 2001 (bronze), 2005 (silver) and 2007 (bronze).

Hentschel/Punzel finished on the podium in this event at each of the last three European championships: second in both 2018 and 2019, and gold in 2021.

Maddison Keeney (AUS) and Anabelle Smith (AUS) won bronze in this event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Smith also claimed bronze in this event at the 2011 FINA World Championships, alongside Sharleen Stratton (AUS).

Australia collected three world championships medals in the women's 3m springboard synchro, all bronze (2007, 2011, 2015).

Keeney has already picked up medals in the women's 1m springboard, the women's 3m springboard and the mixed 3m springboard synchro at the FINA World Championships. She could become the third woman to achieve a medal in at least four different diving events, after Tania Cagnotto (ITA, 4) and Wang Han (CHN, 4).

Men's 10m Platform

China

China won the men's 10m platform world title a record seven times. Russia and United States follow on three gold medals each.

China's 19 medals in this event at the world aquatics championships are also most by a country (next 9 by USA). At least one Chinese diver finished on the podium in this event at each of the last 14 editions (1986-2019).

Cao Yuan (CHN) won the men's 10m platform at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The last reigning Olympic champion to win the next world title in this event was Hu Jia (CHN, 2005).

Cao has yet to pick up his first world championships medal in the men's 10m platform. He has already claimed silverware in the men's 3m springboard, men's 3m springboard synchro and men's 10m platform synchro. The only diver who collected world championships medals in at least four different men's events is Alexandre Despatie (CAN, 4).

Other contenders

The only two divers to have won the world title in both the men's 10m platform synchro and men's 10m platform in the same year are Tian Liang (CHN, 2001) and Qiu Bo (CHN, 2011).

United States (G3-S4-B2) can become the second country to claim 10+ medals in this event at the world aquatics championships, after China (19). At the last 13 FINA World Championships, the only USA diver to reach the podium in the men's 10m platform was David Boudia, who won silver in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Oleksii Sereda (UKR) finished fourth in this event at the 2019 FINA World Championships when he was just 13 years old. Ukraine has yet to claim its first world championships medal in the men's 10m platform.

At the 2019 LEN European Championships, Sereda (13y-229d) broke the record for youngest men's European diving champion after winning the men's 10m platform. The previous record was set by Tom Daley (GBR, 13y-308d) in 2008.

Woo Haram (KOR) took sixth place in the men's 10m platform at the world aquatics championships in 2019. The Republic of Korea can become the second Asian country after China to claim a medal in this event.

At the start of these championships, the Republic of Korea's only podium finish in diving at the world aquatics championships was a third-place by Kim Suji in the women's 1m springboard in 2019.

Great Britain's three medals in the men's 10m platform at the world aquatics championships were all won by Tom Daley: gold in 2009 (at age 15), bronze in 2015 and gold in 2017.

Australia's only silverware in this event at the world aquatics championships was won by Mathew Helm: bronze in 2001 and silver in 2003.
