BUDAPEST (Hungary) – Four teams – Greece, Korea, South Africa, Spain – were disqualified during the Mixed 4x1500m Team Relay at the 19th FINA World Championships Budapest 2022. The FINA race jury determined that four athletes (Alvarez Maria de Valdes, ESP; Dimitrios Markos, GRE; Jaehun Park, KOR; Connor Buck, RSA) failed to follow rule 6.1 of the FINA Open Water Swimming rules: “All Open Water competitions shall be Freestyle events and swimmers are required to complete the whole course, respecting all designated turning buoys and course boundaries.”
