Number-wise, the women’s field was also dominated by extraordinary Chinese divers like Xin Wang, Zi He, Jingjing Guo, Hao Wang, Lishi Lao, Ni Chen, Jingzhen Cao, and Minxia Wu, but they were not alone. Italy’s Tania Cagnotto, Anna Lindberg of Sweden, Canada’s Emilie Heymans, Russia’s Yulia Pakhalina, and Allison Brennan (USA), among others who earned medals throughout the seven meets of the series. And while China continued to lead overall for the Synchro events, they were often challenged or even beaten by teams from Australia, the USA, Canada, Australia, Italy and Russia. In the men’s field, pairs from Germany, like Philipp Becker and Christian Picker, as well as those from Cuba (Erik Fornaris and Jorge Betancourt), Ukraine, Mexico, and Belarus also posed a significant threat. With the Olympics fast approaching, competition will be just as intense for the 2008 edition.
