In the final encounter with the media, Vitaly Mutko, Russian Minister of Sport, and Lajos Kosa, Chairman of the 2017 Budapest Organising Committee presented, from one hand, their evaluation on the Kazan Championships, and from the other, their prospect on the Budapest FINA World Championships.

Before that, FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione also expressed his satisfaction about the two weeks in the capital of Tatarstan. “The entire FINA Family, the people of Kazan, Tatarstan and Russia, and all the TV viewers worldwide lived great moments in this 16th FINA World Championships. Our six Aquatic disciplines were highlighted by superb performances and our athletes showed a significant level of preparation”, the FINA President said. “You have witnessed the excellence of our competitions, held in high standard venues and supported by enthusiastic crowds. Many millions of TV viewers in the five continents could also enjoy fantastic and exciting images from our events. I would like to sincerely all those responsible for this achievement, namely all the authorities from Russia and Tatarstan”, he concluded.

Next to Dr. Maglione, Russia’s Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko reinforced this positive experience: “I would like to thank you all for your intense activity and hard work. It has been one of the biggest competitions ever hosted in our country’s history. Also for the first time we organised the World Masters Championships in parallel hoping that the legacy from these two events will benefit the region for years to come. The atmosphere in the venues was incredible!.”

As the Hungarian capital takes the relay over, Budapest 2017 Organising Committee Chairman Lajos Kosa was on-site to launch the event’s website: “It is a great honour for me to be here today to take the relay for the next edition of the FINA World Championships. We have now nearly two years to get ready and to reach the same level of organisation seen here in Kazan. We will use this excellent event as a benchmark for ours. I would like to thank everybody in advance and invite you all to visit Budapest”, Mr. Kosa declared. “Today we officially launch the website which is already up and running. I can already reveal that we are constructing two new venues for the event- a brand new swimming complex which will host swimming, synchronised swimming and diving- and we are negotiating to install a high diving board in front of the Parliament on the Danube river!”
