To celebrate the beginning of the FINA World Masters Championships, a big concert has been held on the evening of August 5, at the main competition venue, the Nambu University.

Over 10,000 people attended the event to celebrate friendship and their passion for aquatics – including national teams, officials and Gwangju citizens.

The atmosphere was very festive and a great occasion for the athletes from all over the world to have a first touch of Korean culture with the Korean music concert featuring local stars including Jang Yoon-jeong, Yoon Soo-il, Jejojo, Yoon Soo-hyun, and Yang Su-kyung. Food trucks offering Korean specialties were also part of the festival.

Mr. Lee Yong-sup, Mayor of Gwangju, was on-site to welcome all the participants and express his gratitude towards the active participation of Gwangju citizens in the successful delivery of the Masters Championships.

The official opening ceremony will be held on August 11 at Nambu University and the closing ceremony will be held on August 18 at the May 18th democratic square.
