Russia chasing gold in World Junior Women's Water Polo Championship

Sixteen teams, with Russia willing to successfully defend the title achieved in 2017 in Volos (GRE), will compete in Funchal (POR) between September 9-15, on the occasion of the FINA World Junior Women's Water Polo Championship.

Golden Gwangju – diving: Yang Jian (CHN) “Make winning a habit”

Against all doubts and odds, Yang Jian has shrugged off the ‘runner-up curse’ and snatched his first individual world title in the men's 10m platform on his third trip to the World Championships. Yang, bronze medallist in Budapest and runner-up in the World Cup last year in Wuhan, first claimed mixed team event gold with Lin Shan in Gwangju and then added the most appreciated individual title of his career in the last event of the diving competition, the 10m platform.

PR 76 – Sixteen junior squads to join Funchal (POR) for Women's WP World Championships

From September 9-15, sixteen teams representing the five continents will be taking part in the FINA World Junior Women's Water Polo Championships 2019 in Funchal, the capital city of Portugal's island Madeira.

For a six-day tournament, the modern Complexo de Piscinas Olimpicas do Funchal will welcome teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Spain, South Africa and the USA.
