Daley in 10 clicks

December 06th, 2017

Not only China

Only three non-Chinese male divers (out of eight editions) have won so far the “FINA Best of the Year” award: Patrick Hausding (GER, 2010), Ilya Zakharov (RUS, 2012) and Tom Daley (GBR, 2017)

“I think it is important for any kid out there, no matter their background, their race, religion, gender or sexuality, to know that they can achieve great things if they put their mind to it. One day those differences might just be what makes them the best at what they do”

Olympic bronze

Daley “only” collected two bronze Olympic medals so far: 2012 bronze in the 10m platform individual event and 2016 bronze in the 10m platform synchro final

Young talent

In January 2008 (at only 13), Daley became the youngest British champion ever in the 10m platform senior event

First major success

Tom Daley won his first world title at the age of 15, when he was gold medallist at the 10m platform event in Rome 2009

2015 milestones

Besides Rome 2009 and Budapest 2017, the other two medals for Daley at the Worlds happened in Kazan 2015: gold in the Team Event, and bronze in the 10m platform individual event

12 times 10

During his “golden” 10m platform performance in Budapest 2017, Daley was awarded on 12 occasions a perfect 10 from the judges. He concluded his six-dive final with a total of 590.95

One-year countdown

Successful season

In 2017, Daley won the 10m platform at the FINA World Championships, was bronze medallist in the 3m synchro event, and also third in the overall 10m platform ranking of the World Series
