He began playing water polo at age seven in Rome, Italy.

"My father was a policeman and he took me to Rome at the swimming school of the Fiamme Oro and after time the coach invited me to try water polo. It is a sport that shaped me both physically and temperamentally, thanks to the membership of a team and the relationship with teammates."
