KAZAN

Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, one of the largest economic, political, scientific, cultural, historical and sports centres in Russia; the largest city in the Volga economic region and the sixth largest city in the country. 1,2 million people representing over 115 nationalities live in the harmony of cultural, religious and language diversity. The city, which celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 2005, is the crossroads of civilisations: here Europe meets Asia, intertwining cultures, traditions and beliefs.

One thousand-year-old Kazan may rightly be called “young” as it is one of the main student cities in Russia. There are a lot of winners of Russian and international contests, laureates of state scholarships of Russian and international funds, as well as athletes, among the students.

Kazan has successfully hosted the FINA World Championships & FINA World Masters Championships in 2015 as well as other major FINA competitions (i.e. High Diving World Cup, Diving World Series, World Junior Diving Championships, World Junior Artistic Swimming Junior Championships, etc.)
