Following the unstable air traffic conditions and the limited possibilities for teams to move within Europe, the sixth round of games of the European groups of the 2010 FINA Men’s Water Polo World League, to take place on April 20, 2010 has been re-scheduled as follows: - Spain-Serbia: April 27, Pontevedra (ESP) - Montenegro-Italy: April 28 - Russia-FYR Macedonia: May 4, Moscow (RUS) - France-Germany: June 1 - Croatia-Greece: July 4 Only the match Romania-Turkey will take place, as planned, on April 20, 2010. |

 Brenda Villa (USA) in Rome Her resume happens to break the traditional one page rule, but that is what happens when you have played in three Olympic Games, and concluding this past August in Rome, Italy, six FINA World Championships. She is Brenda Villa of USA Water Polo and these latest World Championships were just another for Villa where she ended up wearing the Gold. |

 Action between RSA-NZL 8th FINA World Junior Women’s Water Polo Championships – August 9-15, 2009
When Ekaterina Prokofyeva waved the flag in triumph from the pool following her Russian team’s victory at the FINA World Junior Women’s Water Polo Championships in western Siberia, it heralded a new age.
Not just the age of the athletes, which at 18 years and under was a new and younger statistic, but a new dawn for water polo.
It showcased in Khanty-Mansiysk (from August 9-15, 2009), the oil and gas-rich autonomous region of Russia, what the world has to offer at the younger level. It also took the game to a new region where water polo is starting to flourish and is home to the third best women’s team in Russia. |

 CAN - EGY 15th FINA World Junior Men’s Water Polo Championships – August 22-30, 2009
On a warm, fine night on the banks of the Adriatic Sea, Croatia performed a Houdini act in front of a 2500 crowd to secure the FINA junior men’s water polo world championship crown.
It was a controversial finish to a fantastic tournament containing 19 nations.
Greece was the aggressor for much of the match and led by an incredible 5-1early in the third period before self-destructing, allowing Croatia back into the game to take the lead 7-6 eight minutes later and still with six minutes remaining. |

Anyone who witnessed the water polo finals at the 13th FINA World Championships in Rome would have left abuzz with excitement knowing they had witnessed truly terrific matches.
They reached the pinnacle of two weeks of competition in which big names slid down the ladder, new teams emerged, new names etched themselves in history and paying patrons witnessed some of the best water polo in history. |

 GRE vs CRO Croatia claimed its second gold medal when it won a last-gasp, extra-time victory over Greece on day nine of the XV FINA Junior Men’s Water Polo World Championships here tonight.In front of 2500 screaming fans, Croatia gained the victory to go with its Havana, Cuba medal in 1997, with a goal two seconds from time by Marko IVANKOVIC after Greece led most of the way. However, Croatia took the lead with six minutes remaining and Greece equalised to take the game to two extra periods. Greece went 8-7 ahead but Croatia equalised and the game was thought to go to penalty shootout except for the heroic shot by IVANKOVIC, who was named the player of the tournament. Greek goalkeeper Georgios PAPADOGIANNIS was named the goalkeeper of the tournament while the highest goal-scorer was Bence BATORI from Hungary with 24 goals. |

 ITA vs USA Greece and Croatia will play for gold at the XV FINA Junior Men’s Water Polo World Championships here tomorrow evening.Greece beat Serbia 6-5 with a goal in the last six seconds while Croatia had to come back from 3-1 down to beat Montenegro 8-6. In the group 5-8 semifinals, Spain easily accounted for Australia 9-5 and Aimone BARABINO scored a backhand goal six seconds from time to beat the United States of America 9-8. In the classification matches, Puerto Rico beat Iran 6-4 for 17th; Slovakia beat South Africa 17-10 for 15th; France downed New Zealand 9-5 for 13th; Canada trumped Egypt 12-3 for 11th and outgoing champion Hungary staved off Brazil 8-7 for ninth. |

 GRE vs ESP Greece will play Serbia while Montenegro will clash with Croatia in the semifinals of the XV FINA Junior Men’s Water Polo World Championships in Sibenik tomorrow.Greece won through firstly with a 5-2 success against Spain, who was expected to go further in this tournament following a fantastic four-goal victory over Hungary the night before. Montenegro then took apart Italy 10-6 after only gaining the lead before halftime. Serbia needed extra time to get up against Australia after leading 7-6 just before fulltime. Australia equalled to force the two extra periods and went ahead in the first only to see Srdan VUKSANOVIC score twice on extra-man advantage to seal the win at 9-8. |

 HUN vs ESP Montenegro, Spain, Australia and United States of America won through to the quarter-finals at the XV FINA Junior Men’s Water Polo World Championships here today. Montenegro needed a goal 14 seconds from time to beat a defiant Canada 8-7. The Canadians came back from three goals down to level the game twice in the final period. Montenegro gets to play Italy in the quarter-finals. Spain crushed Hungary’s heart in a 6-2 second quarter and went on to win 10-6 in a tight second half. Spain was by far the better team and adept on extra-man advantage, setting up a showdown with Greece. |
