Germany needed a sliding five-metre shot inside the last minute to advance to the play-off for ninth. In a game where New Zealand dominated, Germany only took the lead for the first time just over five minutes from full time. The Kiwis came back through a third goal to HUDSON on extra but ZOLLNER scored her third goal of the final period with the unguarded shot off the free throw, just rolling across the line for victory.
