Romania surged into the last eight with an excellent victory over Australia.
The dour match saw the faster Australians fail to exploit their greater mobility while allowing the outside shooters free rein. Australia concentrated on covering powerful centre forward RADU but this allowed other players free movement as Romania led 3-1 early in the second quarter and 5-3 in the third. CAMPBELL pulled it back to one goal but RADU on a wide-open counter after an Australian mistake and DIACONU with a snap outside shot took the game beyond Australia's reach. Romania now plays Croatia in the
quarter-finals.
