Croatia became the fourth team to make the quarter-finals, finishing atop Group B with a handsome victory. RUDIC said he would give the team a half-day off in celebration. It took time for Croatia to settle but at the top of the second quarter the Croatian counter machine took hold and China was shut out from scoring with the exception of a goal to veteran HAN late in the second quarter and one to YU 10 seconds from full time. BOSKOVIC gained two of his five goals from the penalty line in the first quarter.
