Italy, on the other hand, gave South Africa no option at all, winning 8-15. The Italian team will face a tricky match against Canada, which has won their previous three matches, with a playing system strongly based on their defense. The Netherlands didn’t have it that easy in their match against Australia (13-8), but their physical strength shone once again in order to beat their rivals.

China and Russia played a very physical match, and the scoreboard was quite level during the first three quarters. The last quarter proved to be decisive, and the greater scoring effectiveness of the Chinese team gave them the victory, not without difficulty, in a tight 10-8 score.

On the lower part of the placings, Brazil beat Germany with a 5-7 score, and New Zealand defeated Puerto Rico with a 6-13 score. Japan-Australia and South Africa-Russia will be the matches deciding the positions 9th to 12th, where as Germany-Puerto Rico and Brazil-New Zealand will decide the positions 13th to 16th.
