Spain, the competition host, dominates Group C due to the goal average thanks to a well-crafted draw against the other big favourite team, the Netherlands (6-6). It was the most exciting match of the day, with Forca and Loopman as the top scorers. At the lower part of the group, China crushed Puerto Rico with a 11-22 score in an uneventful match.

Finally, in Group D, Canada and Russia draw level at the top of the scoreboard with two victories each, but with a better goal average for the Canadians. The main affected team, Australia, was defeated by Russia with a very tight score (9-8), as it had happened the previous day against Canada (7-6). The Canadians, on the other hand, gave no chance to New Zealand, and they won the match with a 18-3 score.

FLASH QUOTES:

Paolo Zizza (Italy coach): “It has been difficult to win the match. My players were a bit sleepy and mentally tired out after the match against Greece. Also Japan played well and our attack was not very effective at the beginning."

Alexandra Kiss (Hungary): “We thought the match would be harder. We defended pretty well with the arms and our attack was quite successful, therefore we feel happy."

Juan C. Sanchón (Spain coach): “It was a match eminently defensive on both sides and with much respect since we know each other well. We have made a great game on defense. In attack we have been a little bit away from the goal.”
