Quotes:

Elvis Fatovic-AUS: “We had two distinct parts in this game. The beginning was very bad, very slow in the attack. And then in the second half it was better. We controlled our defence and then we created some opportunities of counter-attack. We played side defence much better, but we must play like this from the beginning. The third period was so important period.”

Yoji Omoto-JPN: “We played better than yesterday, especially in the offence, but the level difference was huge between the Aussies and us. We shot well in the beginning because we found the rhythm of the game, but later we lost our energy. Our tactic was the counter-attack, however, it was risky that our rivals could make use of it, too. They were faster, stronger than us. When they got more defensive we could not shoot any more. The gap of goal difference was the real contrast of our two teams. We will try to improve and get better in the next 5 weeks.”

Quotes:

Dejan Savic-SRB: “We practiced a lot this morning. I think we swam very well this match that we had many goals from counter attacks. We are traditional strong in water polo thanks to the great system of education for young players in our country. There are eight clubs in our national league but we have a lot of water polo clubs overall the country.”

Chen Yaohua-CHN: “Serbia is the best team in the world as they have many World League and World Championships. Their experience, swimming speed and personal techniques are much better than ours. Since we are a mixed team with elder and young players, we had some problems in communication today. We were here to learn.”

Quotes:

Theodoros Vlachos-GRE: “A very good game for us especially in the defence. Our passion for the game got better and better as well as the defence. That was the key factors for our victory. We sometimes lose patience in counter attacks but not today. We played a perfect game. We were 100% concentrated from the beginning to the end. I thought maybe Italy gave up the rest of the game and tried to come back again in the next games. Tomorrow we will play Australia and we will try to top our group and get better chance in the cross games to enter the quarter-finals.”

Alessandro Campagna-ITA: “We did not play at all. We were not well prepared and very tired. Greece played an excellent game – a well-deserved win. Tomorrow we will play Japan and we will try to win.”

Quotes:

Dejan Udovicic-USA: “We only caught the rhythm of the game from the second part. We started very slow because we just arrived here two days ago and we still had jet lag. We missed a major player Bret Bonanni who is sick with some virus. He will try to play maybe tomorrow or Friday. We have about 7 or 8 young players who are university students. The latter never competed in big international events. However they play better and better in each game.”

Ratko Rudic-BRA: “We started to play well. We changed our tactics during the game and we got a lot of exclusions. We missed some goals in defence. The first part was OK, but the second part was not satisfying.”
