The Chinese twin sisters finished fourth in the Beijing Olympic Games and were bronze medallists in last year's Rome FINA World Championships. Jiang Wenwen said: "Our pre-meet goal was to win the gold. We are happy that we make the 20-year dream come true for all the Chinese synchronised swimmers."
“We have eight series of leg movements which are the most difficult part of our routine. We did all of them very well tonight. I felt exciting in front of home crowds," Jiang Tingting added.
Since Russia quit the duet event because one of their swimmers was injured and Spain is absent from the four-day World Cup due to economic problems, Jiang Wenwen said: "It was a great pity that we missed the strongest rivals in the world this time. We really expect to compete with them next time, maybe in next year's World Championships in Shanghai."
For the Canadian girls, it was also their first world duet medal. Boudreau-Gagnon said: "We are proud of ourselves for taking the first duet medal at the World Cup. Now we are looking for next big competition, and looking for excitement."

The solo event will take place this Saturday with 18 competitors.
