Gwangju, Korea, host of the highly successful 18th FINA World Championships that concluded on Sunday July 28, is gearing up to welcome the 18th FINA World Masters Championships from August 5-18.

Over 14 days, more than 4,000 aquatic sports enthusiasts will be in Korea, including 1,207 clubs across all disciplines (swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming and artistic swimming) and 83 countries represented.

The Masters competition will be held in the same venues used for the elite events last month, insuring excellent standards and optimum conditions for the masters athletes coming from all around the world to measure their sporting skills. The competition schedule is available here.

Venues in Gwangju and nearby Yeosu include the Nambu University Municipal Aquatics Center for swimming and diving, the  Nambu University Football Field for water polo, the Yeomju Gymnasium for artistic swimming and the Yeosu Expo Ocean Park for open water swimming.

The official opening ceremony will be held on August 11 at the Nambu University Municipal Aquatics Center in Gwangju, while the closing party will be on August 18.

Various cultural performances, including music concerts, will take place at the competition sites throughout the event.

Since 2015, the FINA World Masters Championships are held co-jointly with the FINA World Championships, in order to ensure an even higher exposure and additional economic opportunities for the host city.
