Hungary's Katinka Hosszu and Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands both set new World Records on Day 2 of the Berlin leg of the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup 2017.

Hosszu achieved the world's best time in the 100m IM in 56.51 as well as a World Cup Record in the 400m IM in 4:19.82, while Kromowidjojo broke the 50m free World Record in 22.93, a record previously hold by Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom.

Sjostrom showed great form too in Berlin as she topped the 200m free in 1:5.56 and the 50m fly, maintaining herself in the leading position of the ranking so far. The star is off to a flying start this season as she counts 169 points already. Hosszu follows her with 137 points and Kromowidjojo ranks third with 101.

Spain's Mireia Belmonte was the best in her pet event, the 400m free, in 3:57.79 and Emily Seebohm stamped authority in the 50m back, after winning this race in Moscow at the inaugural leg too.

In the men's competition, Russian ace Vladimir Morozov claimed gold in the 100m free, breaking a World Cup Record on the same occasion (45.23).

South Africa's Chad Le Clos and Cameron Van der Burgh respectively clinched gold in the 50m/200m fly and 50m breast.

National hero Philip Heintz topped the 200/400m IM in 1:52.64 and 4:05.16 respectively.

In the backstroke events, Radoslaw Kawecki (POL) was the one to beat as he took gold in the 100/200m races.

Long-distance swimmer Gabriele Detti of Italy took gold in the 1500m, touching home in 14:18.33.

The World Cup next stops in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, with a third leg that will conclude Cluster 1 on August 10-11.
