The team of Ukraine largely dominated the fourth leg of the FINA Synchronised Swimming World Series, held in Toronto (CAN) from May 3-6, 2017. With international participation limited to Ukraine, Colombia and New Zealand, the Europeans won all the finals at stake, with Canada getting most of the runner-up positions. The individual star of the competition – the Canadian Open – was Anna Voloshyna, who earned the eight gold medals at stake.

The Ukrainian champion was the strongest in the solo technical and free events, beating on both occasions the best Canadian representative in the meet, Jacqueline Simoneau. In the duet, Voloshyna paired with her teammate Yelyzaveta Yakhno and remained once more unbeaten. Simoneau, swimming with Karine Thomas, was silver medallist on both finals. In the solo performances, Colombia’s Daniela Dominguez Daza (bronze) completed the trio of medallists, while the duet Eva Morris/Jazzlee Thomas, from New Zealand was third in both the technical and free routines.

In the team events, Ukraine was swimming alone, with the exception of the technical presentation, where they beat Canada once more.

After Paris (FRA), Taiyuan (CHN), Tokyo (JPN) and Toronto (CAN), the FINA Synchronised Swimming World Series will now stop in Las Palmas (ESP), on May 25-28. After that, the two last legs of the competitions will be held in Long Island (USA, June 22-24) and in Tashkent (UZB, September 21-24).
