The 4th FINA World Aquatics Convention kicks-off tomorrow on Saturday December 3 in Windsor, Canada.

Canada's southernmost city, located on the riverfront overlooking the Detroit skyline, is ready to welcome around a thousand+ delegates, 400+ organisations connected to Aquatic sports and well-known key influential speakers for the two-day event, which serves as a platform for best practice exchange, knowledge spreading and a unique network environment.

The impressive line-up of speakers includes USA's most famous swimming coach - Bob Bowman who coached the most decorated Olympian of all time Michael Phelps, as well as Spanish swimming ace coach Fred Vergnoux and Team GB's head coach Bill Furniss. 

An athlete-dedicated panel will include Aquatic legends such as swimmers Janet Evans (USA) or Laszlo Cseh (HUN), diver Meaghan Benfeito (CAN), or high diver Gary Hunt (GBR). 

The FINA World Sports Medicine Congress and the FINA Swimming Coaches Golden Clinic will both run in parallel of the Convention on December 3-4 and December 4-5, also in Windsor.

Both rendezvous will provide delegates with the latest trends in the field of sports medicine and coaching knowledge leading to excellence (and medals at major events).

FINA Bureau

The intense FINA programme in Windsor, which will conclude with the 13th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) on December 6-11, k

icked-off with the Bureau meeting on December 2. Main highlights included:

- the launch in 2017 of the FINA Synchronised Swimming World Series circuit;

- the implementation of the “FINA World Swim City”, a title that will be given to the hosts of the FINA World Championships and FINA World Swimming Championships (25m);

- the approval of a “FINA Policy and Procedure Manual” related with good governance issues;

- the revision of the Constitutional, General, Facilities and Technical rule change proposals to be voted at the FINA General and Technical Congresses in the summer of 2017 in Budapest (HUN);

- the approval of the 2017 clinics and schools included in FINA’s Development Programme;

- the award of the organisation of the 2018 FINA Men’s World Water Polo Youth Championships (18&U) to Hungary;   

-  the acknowledgment of the successful preparation status of the three upcoming FINA major events: FINA World Championships 2017 in Budapest (HUN), FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2018 in Hangzhou (CHN), and the FINA World Championships 2019 in Gwangju (KOR).
