The team of Russia dominated operations in the first day of the inaugural leg of the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, held in Paris (FRA), by taking the first three gold medals at stake. The Russian festival started with the Solo Technical event, with Varvara Subbotina beating her main challengers with a total of 92.4445 points. The minor medals went to Japan’s Yukiko Inui (89.5690, silver) and to Yelyzaveta Yakhno, from Ukraine (88.2743, bronze).

In the Duet Technical final, Subbotina successfully paired with the 2017 FINA Best Female Artistic Swimmer, her compatriot Svetlana Kolesnishenko. Together, they got the gold in 94.6415 points, beating the Jiang sisters (Wenwen and Tingting) from China (92.0677 points, silver) and the Japanese duet formed by Yukiko Inui and Kanami Nakamaki (90.6743, bronze).

Finally, in the Team Technical event, the European powerhouse was once more the team to beat, earning gold in 93.6476. They were followed by the Chinese squad (92.5899) and by the Ukrainian delegation (89.9400).

The competition in Paris, to be staged until March 11 will proceed this Saturday with three more finals in the programme: Duet Mixed Technical, Team Free, and Free Combination.
