The eleventh edition of the African Games was hosted by the Republic of Congo and staged at the Kintele Aquatic Complex in Brazzaville, 6-11 September 2015. In total, 29 countries participated in the Swimming events with an individual participation of 172 competitors. The standard of the performances by competitors were a significant improvement on previous editions. A total of 17 meet records were broken of which 14 were individual records and three were relay best marks. South Africa, Egypt and Algeria, by this order, were the top-3 nations in the medal chart.

The competition was held in a state of the art 10-lane swimming pool, at the Kintele Aquatic Complex. The complex comprises of two 50m heated swimming pools, with the main competition pool partially covered and the other a warm-up and warm-down facility. Pre-Competition training was arranged at the Kintele Aquatic complex which was situated approximately 50m across from the Main Competition Pool. Both Swimming pools were used for training prior the start of the event and on competition days.

Existing buildings at the facility were allocated for Competition Operations, Electronic Timing Device Management, Competition Results Management, Doping Control, Emergency Medical Care, Technical Officials and VIP Hospitality.

The overall aquatic complex, as well as overall Sports Complex, was of world class standard and the Congo government must be applauded for being able to deliver such facilities.
