The tribute to Dr Maglione was given by Panam Sports President Neven Ilic and was awarded in recognition “of the outstanding devotion of a lifetime” from the FINA President to Sport. The ceremony was held in Tokyo (JPN), where the ANOC (Association of National Olympic Committees) held its Assembly.

Neven Ilic, from Chile, who will be the new ANOC Vice-President for Americas (replacing Dr Maglione), highlighted the “great generosity and the dedicated work for so many years” of the FINA President. Visibly touched with this recognition, Dr Maglione confessed that throughout his entire life he always “worked for the development of Sport, in a spirit of harmony and mutual respect”.
