FINA President Dr Julio C. Maglione, FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu and the FINA Vice-Presidents meet yesterday April 27 with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban who received them in the Parliament on the occasion of the FINA World Water Polo Conference held in Budapest.

At the talks with the Prime Minister – which was also attended by IOC Member and NOC Honorary Life President Pal Schmitt, Sandor Wladar, President of the Hungarian Swimming Federation and Denes Kemeny, President of the Hungarian Water Polo Federation – the FINA leaders recalled the memories and the legacy the 2017 FINA World Championships which had been considered the best ever in FINA history.

The parties agreed that Budapest is an international sports capital and perfectly suitable to host major sport events on the highest level.

Based on this, a series of great and quality aquatic competitions will be staged in Hungary in the coming months and years, including artistic swimming events, a leg of the FINA Marathon Swimming World Series in June, for the first time a leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup in October, the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in 2019 in the well-known Duna Arena.
