After the third series, her compatriot Qian Ren ranked fifth but managed to climb to the second place with really good grades. Qian Ren said that she needs to adjust some things mainly thinking for the FINA World Championships in Kazan.

 

“I did not like my performance this time, especially in the second round, but it was very good because we could see everything we need to get right when we go back to training in China.”

 

The British Tania Couch, European Vice-Champion in 2013 won the bronze (370.60).
The three winners in the final ranking of the FINA competition were in all six steps performed. Tonia Couch was added more points (16), followed by Roseline Filion (72) and Pandelela Rinong (62).

In the men's 10m platform, the podium was with the Chinese Jian Yang (570.05), Mexico's Ivan Garcia (555.80) and the British Tom Daley (545.65). The three made the toughest dispute of the competition so far. The three were very close and got high marks from the judges.

In the penultimate sequence (six in total), Garcia (MEX) excelled and earned 112.75 for his inward four and a half somersaults tuck. This was the highest score and Garcia took the lead. Jian Yang (CHN) climbed again to the first position thanks to its very accurate dive.

“I was so nervous. Everyone here was well prepared. We cannot rest on our laurels despite all the medals won during this competition” said Jian Yang.

Gracia said he left the event in Merida happy with his and the Mexican team’s performances.

 

“I am very happy with the competition I had. It was not easy, here were some of the best in the world. I always try to get scores above 500, as this is the minimum if I want to be among the best in the world. I did, but I think I can improve and that's what I'll try for the next competitions.”

 

Jian also got the highest score in the final ranking of the race. He added 98 points in the six stages of the FINA World Series.

Tom Daley was the second best (78) and the Chinese Bo Qiu, who was not involved in the last two stages, was third (62). As all competitors the last stage of the FINA World Series, Tom Daley also highlighted the excellent level of the contestants.

“It was very difficult. Today Ivan did very well. Everyone wanted to win a medal in Mexico, because this is one of the leading countries in diving. This year was one of the best for the team of Great Britain. And it's like Jian said, one must be in the pressure of competition to test the performance.”

 

The mixed 10m synchro platform ended the competition with China (344.94), Canada (325.38) and Mexico (318.90). The Chinese pair Tai Xiaohu and Tai Lian Jie did well against the Canadians Vincent Riendeau and Meaghan Benfeito. Tai Xiaohu said everyone is still adjusting to the mixed events.

Mexican Jahir Ocampo and Paola Espinosa also said they were satisfied with the results, especially Paola, who had recovered from a recent injury and ready to train herself sufficiently to perform well in the upcoming competitions.

China (162), Canada (135), and Mexico (111) were also the best of the circuit in the 10m mixed synchro platform at the end of the six stages.

The next challenges for the main divers of the Americas will be the Pan American Games, to be held in the Canadian city of Toronto from 9 to July 13; and water sports athletes from around the world the FINA World Championships in the Russian city of Kazan, from July 24 to August 9.
