On April 30, 2015, the swimmer Alexander Varakin (KAZ) was tested positive to the prohibited substance Hydrochlorothiazide (Class S.5 Diuretics and Masking Agents) following an in-competition doping control test conducted with the occasion of the Swimming Competitions in Temirtau (KAZ).
 
The Disciplinary Committee of the Kazakhstan National Anti-Doping Centre imposed a sanction of 2 years’ ineligibility on the athlete starting on June 26, 2015.
