The United States took the silver and Brazil the bronze medals in the men's 3m springboard synchro.

In the women's 10m platform synchro, China's Jie Lian and Huang Xiaohui took the gold, defeating the team from Brazil. For this event, competitors, both men and women, went directly to the finals because rules authorise bypassing semifinals when there are six, or less, competitors. Nevertheless, for Lian the competition was not about defeating another competitor but about improving her performance.

"It doesn’t matter if there are only a few competitors here. We always strive to do improve our performance," said Lian.

China picked up gold and silver in the men's 10m platform and gold in the women's 3m springboard.

Huo Liang scored 571.85 points for the gold and Jian Yang, who was the only diver to score a perfect score in one of his dives, got 515.95 for the silver.

The dominance of the Chinese team was so strong that the nearest competitor to silver-medallist Yang was Canada's Philippe Gagne, who scored 431.20 points for the bronze.

In the women's 3m springboard event China's Qu Lin snatched the gold after scoring 326.30 in a close competition against Canadian diver Emma Friesen, who took the silver with 322.05 points. Last week, Lin had won the 3m springboard synchro in the Fort Lauderdale leg of the Grand Prix. Inge Jansen from the Netherlands came in third with 301.60 points.
