The three-day event kicks off in Kazan on May 4 and features 10 standard events. Competition day 1 will play out 4 synchro titles as the finals in the 10m platform and 3m synchro springboard for both men and women are due to take place. On Saturday, May 5, the medal offer includes women’s 10m platform, men’s 3m springboard as well as the mixed synchro 10m platform. To crown it all, on Sunday, May 6, the winners will be celebrated in the men’s 10m platform, women’s 3m springboard and mixed 3m springboard.

Some 50 international elite divers from 12 countries are expected to take part in the 2018 Diving World Series Leg #4. Following a good old tradition, the event will be staged at the state of the art Aquatics Palace, located on the bank of the Kazanka river. It is pretty well-known for the diving community, first and foremost as a scene of the XXVI FINA World Championships in 2015 and XXVII World Summer Universiade in 2013.

Diving fans are building anticipation to see the brightest world stars in Kazan

Many diving legends are among the competitors for this weekend.
Kazan diving fans are building anticipation to watch magnificent Chinese in action, headed by the 2-times 2016 Olympic champion and 6 World Championship gold titles holder Shi Tingmao, as well as Ren Qian and Yuan Cao, boasting Olympic wins in 2016 and 2012 respectively. Apart from the heavy favourite China, strong delegations are expected to come from Canada, Malaysia, Great Britain and host Russia, with a number of fantastic divers in their rosters. Among them will be Ilya Zakharov, which shone bright at 2012 London Games to win Russia gold in 3m springboard and silver in 3m synchro, 2-times Olympic medalist Pandelela Pamg of Malaysia together with her 2016 Olympic silver partner in 10m synchro Cheong Jun Hoong, experienced Australian with 2008 Olympic silver Melissa Wu, 3 times Olympic bronze medalist Meaghan Benfeito of Canada, 2016 Olympic Games bronze holders Daniel Goodfellow and Tom Daley of Great Britain.

The Chinese front, always strong, shall be looking to produce another fruitful event to finish the 2018 FINA/CNSG DWS Series on a high. Launching it successfully in Beijing with 10 golds and 4 silver, they have been the dominant force throughout the entire season. Leg#2 in Fuji earned them 10 – 3 – 1. There was almost the same tale for the Montreal one week ago, though some surprises came in the synchro events. To begin with, Malasian Pandelela Pamg/Jun Hoong Cheong and North Korean Kim Mie Rae/Kim Kuk Hyang managed to sneak ahead of the heavy favourites and left them sit comfortably on third in the women’s 10m synchro. Then Canadian Meghan Benfeito/Nathan Zsombar Murray made good use of the Asian power’s absence in the mixed 10m synchro event, and celebrated their gold on the home soil, which soon was readily supported by their teammates Jennifer Abel/Francois Imbeau Dulac capping off the mixed 3m synchro podium.

Chinese front is always strong
