He learnt to swim at age two and began competing at age seven.
Why this sport?
His mother Bronwen remembers her son's first dip came at a carnival when he was two years old and recalls he was a natural. "He got up on the blocks [at the pool] and said he could do it, dived in and started swimming. The minute he got in the water he could swim."
