RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
He considered quitting the sport after his 2015 season was complicated by a respiratory problem. He was inspired to continue after securing a spot in the 10km open water swimming event for the 2016 Olympic Games at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russian Federation. "Suddenly I wasn't able to breathe after making an effort. A lot of tests were done until I found out that I had a reflux problem. Now I have it under control, but I thought about quitting."
