Promising swimming and diving clinics held in La Havana (CUB)
Two advanced-level clinics – one for swimming Officials and another for diving Judges – took place in La Havana, Cuba, on 27 June – 2 July and 30 June – 2 July, 2010, respectively.
53 participants, two of which were non-Cuban, attended the swimming clinic, given by visiting lecturer Jose Ismael Gonzalez from the Guatemala Swimming Federation, who also happens to be CCCAN Vice-President, UANA Member, FINA Referee and FINA TSC Member.
Swimming clinic attracts many coaches in Beyrouth (LIB)
71 coaches (51 beginner and 20 intermediate level) attended a swimming clinic on May 29-June 7, 2010, at the Centre sportif et Lycée de "Mont la Salle", in Beyrouth, Lebanon.
Water polo clinic praised by Syrian coaches (SYR)
28 enthusiastic coaches took part in a water polo clinic (intermediate level) in Damascus, Syria, on May 15-25, 2010.
Ibrahim Nabil Mostafa, the lecturer, led the clinic in Arabic. The focus was put on both theorical and practical aspects of coaching in water polo: practice and team actions, fitness of certain positions and specific training for goal keepers.
The participants showed high interest for the course and actively participated in the clinic.
Synchro Judges upgrade skills at school in Lima (PER)
29 well-motivated participants (mostly women), among which there were 11 locals and 18 coming from other countries on the American continent (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and Venezuela) took part in a School for Synchronised Swimming Judges in Lima, Peru, on May 13-16, 2010.
Swimming clinic is a success in Marshall Islands (MHL)
Kwajalein and Ebeye swimming officials received the benefit earlier this month (May 1-5, 2010) of a visit by international swimming federation coach Don Blew, who is based in Australia.
"I saw improvements since my visit four years ago," Blew told the Journal during his visit to Kwajalein. His visit focused on officiating for swim events and competitions. "FINA's (the international swimming body) aim is to get everyone following one officiating standard, so the administration of rules is the same everywhere," he said.
First success for new FINA Swimming Coaches Certification course in Bogota (COL)
The first course of the new FINA Swimming Coaches Certificate Programme was held in Bogota, Colombia, on April 29-May 1.
Rick Powers, who gave the clinic, is an extremely experienced swimming coach. He has coached the National teams of six countries – Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil, Malaysia, Kuwait and Israel – and has given clinics in no less than 31 countries.
He presently is a consultant to the National Federation of the Philippines and organises swim camps in the country.

Swimming clinic delights coaches (PNG)

A clinic for active club coaches and physical education teachers was held on April 20-26, 2010, in Lae and Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
30 local participants enthusiastically welcomed visiting Australian coach, Chris Smith, who came to share his valuable experience and knowledge in coaching and educating in swimming, who conducted Learn to Swim schools in the Sydney area for 16 years.

Technical Officials attend swimming clinic in Kathmandu (NEP)
A total of 30 participants from Nepal attended a swimming clinic for Technical Officials (Beginner to Intermediate level) from the FINA Development Programme hosted by the Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) on April 18-22, 2010.
The training programme was inaugurated by Mr. Pitambar Timilsina, Vice President of the National Sports Council of Nepal. The five-day clinic comprised a good mix of both theory and practical session in the lecture room and pool deck at the Satdobato Swimming Complex in Kathmandu, Nepal.
