Diving Judges school held in Belgrade (SRB)
The following topics were discussed: Rules pertaining to The Starting Position, Takeoff, Flight, Entry and all the judging requirements associated therewith. The participants were given the opportunity to test their recently-acquired skills at the European Junior Diving Championships, which were taking place in the Serbian capital from June 6-10.
Successful Swimming Officials clinic held in Namibia
British expert Neil Booth, who has a long experience as a Referee at all competition levels, was onsite to deliver the course. The topics included Roles & Responsibilities of Officials, Strokes and Racing, etc. A Gala was also organised for the participants to practice various poolside roles. With such variety among participants, the level of participation, enthusiasm and commitment turned out to be excellent, notel Booth.

OWS Coaches take the plunge in Antigua's pristine waters
A clinic for Open Water Swimming Coaches (Beginner level) took place in the turquoise-blue waters of the Antigua island (ANT) from May 18-22, 2011. Visiting American Swimming Coach Rick Powers trained 14 participants for seven sessions (three theory and four practical).
Aspects of the course included Energy systems, How to plan a season using aerobic and anaerobic training, mental training, parents educations, nutrition, open water training and race tactics.
Developing synchro expertise in Manila (PHI)
A clinic for Synchronised swimming Coaches, Judges and Referees (beginner level) took place in Manila, the Phillipines, from May 12-17, 2011. FINA Technical Synchronised Swimming Committee Member Sue Edwards from New Zealand shared her experience in the field with ten very enthusiastic and interested participants who, she reminds "absolutely soaked the information and knowledge".
"This clinic was very important for the development of synchronised swimming in the Phillipines," Edwards added.
Swimming Officials clinic is a hit in Beyrouth (LIB)
A Swimming Officials clinic was held in Beyrouth, Lebanon, from May 11-17, 2011. Jean-Louis Morin from de Fédération Française de Natation trained 25 participants with both beginner and advanced levels.
The more experienced ones were taught the essential role of the swimming judge, the official's various positions and went into the rules in depth. With the national swimming championships taking place during the clinic, the participants put their skills to the test for two days. The beginners were taught on the judge's positions and the official's roles, timing rules, starts, turns and strokes.

Youth benefits from Swimming school in Fiji
The Oceania edition of the 2011 FINA Swimming Officials Schools was successfully hosted by the Amateur Swimming Association of Fiji from May 7-8, 2011 at the Nadi Sports Club. FINA TSC Chairman Carol Zaleski and FINA TSC Honorary Secretary Søren Korbo conducted the school attended by a total of 33 participants (30 local and three from Guam and Vietnam).
The participants were very young. Some of them were students coming from abroad. They are in Fiji for a two-year course at the Sports School and chose Swimming. During this period they have to take part in at least five different activities. The FINA Swimming Officials School counted as one activity in this regard. Moreover, for the first time, some coaches took part.
Diving Judges test skills at FINA Grand Prix in Montreal (CAN)
11 Diving Judges (six locals and five coming from Cuba, France, Japan and the USA) took part in a school for the FINA Judges Certification Course (Advanced) in Montreal, Canada, from April 27-29, 2011.
FINA Technical Diving Committee Members Steve McFarland (USA) and Anke Piper (Germany) were on-hand to share their expertise with the participants. In addition to the theory sessions, the class was given the opportunity to test their skills at an international diving competition, the third leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix taking place in Montreal on the same week-end. As a result, the participants were assessed by both experts during the competition, also attending the debriefing for the Judges Panels.
