DGP 2013, Fort Lauderdale day 1: Olympic champion David Boudia (USA) advances to 10m final ranked third
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – The field in Saturday’s men’s 10m final at the FINA Diving Grand Prix will include three 2012 Olympic gold medallists as USA’s David Boudia, the individual gold medallist from London, and China’s Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquan, who combined for the 10m platform synchro Olympic gold, all advanced out of Thursday’s semifinals.
Zhang was top qualifier with 529.65 in semifinal B, while Cao scored 504.10 points to win semifinal A. Joining the three gold medallists in the final will be Ukraine’s Oleksandr Bondar, Canada’s Maxim Bouchard and Colombia’s Juan Rios.
In other action Thursday, China’s Liu Jiao scored 322.90 points to win the women’s 3m semifinal A and teammate Zhang Jun won semifinal B with 333.80 points. Also qualifying for Saturday’s finals were USA’s Amanda Burke, Australia’s Samantha Mills, Germany’s Tina Punzel and Japan’s Sayaka Shibusawa.
